Custom Golf Headcovers: Fit, Design and Ordering Checks

Plan a personal custom golf headcover: confirm the club fit, distinguish text personalization from original design, and check proofs, fees and terms.

Last updated

For a custom golf headcover, confirm the exact club fit before approving the artwork. Then establish whether you are adding text to an existing design or commissioning an original cover, and get the proof, total cost, timing and correction terms in writing. A cover category or attractive preview does not verify compatibility with your club.

This guide is for US buyers planning a personal item, rather than a tournament merchandise order. TeeClear does not make covers, submit orders or claim to have tested the providers’ fit, protection or workmanship. For other appearance projects, use the golf gear personalization overview.

Before ordering a custom headcover

  • Choose the job: Vanquish explicitly accepts one custom cover. Dormie distinguishes lettering on an existing product from an original design. Confirm the exact club and opening/closure before approving either route.
  • Understand the commitment: Dormie’s original-design terms make the design deposit nonrefundable and credit it toward that custom job; unused designs do not turn the fee into a regular-shop purchase. Its FAQ lists custom and personalized orders as final sale.
  • Resolve the remaining terms: Vanquish’s general return page gives a 30-day eligibility window with condition exclusions, but does not explicitly explain a personalized cover’s eligibility. Ask for that answer, the cancellation point and the complete delivered quote; save your order record.

Summary fields rechecked 17 October 2026. No selected fit, capacity slot or arrival date has been confirmed by TeeClear.

Confirm the headcover’s job and fit first

Record the actual club brand, model and version. Tell the supplier whether it is a driver, mini driver, fairway wood, hybrid, blade putter or mallet putter, rather than sending only a club number. Ask what information or measurements the supplier needs, how the cover opens and how it closes around that model.

Concept sketches of driver, fairway or hybrid, blade-putter and mallet-putter headcover shapes.

Generated TeeClear concept illustration. These are generic shapes, not sizing templates, real supplier products or evidence that a cover fits a particular club.

Use this purchase worksheet:

Detail to send or request Why it belongs in the order confirmation
Exact club model and head shape A broad “mallet” or “wood” label leaves the individual fit unconfirmed
Shaft-entry location, where relevant Ask the supplier to confirm the required opening for that putter
Closure and internal fit Confirm the proposed design with the supplier rather than inferring security from a picture
Photos or dimensions requested by the supplier Provide the actual item information; a catalog image may omit needed details
Club identifier and artwork position Keep any 3W/5W/H or other identifier separate from the decorative text

Do not bend, force or modify a cover or club to compensate for an unconfirmed fit. This is an order-information checklist, not a physical fit test or a claim that a certain material prevents damage.

Text personalization and original custom design differ

Two supplier programs checked on 17 October 2026 offer useful examples:

Program What its written page confirms What remains order-specific
Vanquish Golf Works custom headcovers Explicitly accepts a single custom headcover with no minimum quantity; lists driver, mini-driver, fairway, hybrid, blade and mallet categories Exact club fit, materials, artwork approval, full quote and correction/return terms
Dormie Workshop FAQ and custom program Distinguishes adding personalized text to current website products from creating an original design; directs name/initial requests to its custom team Exact item eligibility, price, available order slot and whether your requested job falls under personalization or original custom terms

These are US-facing shopping resources, not a claim that every item is manufactured in the United States. Dormie’s FAQ contains differing workshop-location descriptions; no production-location conclusion is needed for this comparison.

Vanquish’s category list does not establish fit for every club. Dormie’s original-custom deposit and design conditions should not automatically be applied to adding initials to a stock design. Ask which program your quote names.

Approve the design, not just the idea

Our suggested design brief includes spelling and capitalization, font, colors, position, front/back views, any club identifier and the exact base cover. If a reference image is only inspiration, say which elements you want rather than assuming an identical copy is possible or authorized.

Ask what the proof establishes: placement, scale, stitch or other process, and which materials are actually approved. A screen image does not establish a delivered color match or finish quality. Use only artwork you are authorized to supply, and ask the provider about its requirements before paying for a logo design.

Dormie’s original-custom page describes included revision rounds and further design fees after them. Confirm the revisions allowed in your particular quote and the point at which approval starts production. We have not submitted a proof or tested either supplier’s approval process.

Separate the base price, design work and delivery

Request these fields, leaving inapplicable fees marked as such:

  • Base cover and personalization or original-design charge.
  • Artwork/setup, included revisions and further-edit charges.
  • Any deposit, whether it is refundable and what it can be credited toward.
  • Tax and shipping to your US address.
  • Required fit confirmation and what happens if the delivered item differs from the agreed specification.

We do not publish a universal starting price. Vanquish’s FAQ and individual style prices differ. Dormie’s original-custom terms describe a nonrefundable design deposit and a later balance; that is distinct from an ordinary stock-item price. Compare a written complete quote with your equipment budget.

Confirm the clock, changes and corrections

Ask what starts the quoted schedule: inquiry acceptance, deposit, design approval, full payment or production booking. Request production and shipping separately. Dormie’s original-custom page says order books open and close with capacity; its pages also use differing completion, shipping and delivery wording. Vanquish describes variable timing based on the job. None is a guarantee that your cover arrives before a booked round.

Dormie’s FAQ lists custom and personalized orders as final sale. Its ordinary return window should not be treated as permission to return optional personalization because you changed your mind. Ask separately about an item that is defective, does not match the approved design or does not meet the agreed fit. Vanquish’s general policy was read in the targeted update: it describes condition-dependent returns and replacement for arrival damage/defects. Exact custom-order eligibility, cancellation and applicable warranty coverage still need written confirmation; a general OEM-warranty sentence does not identify coverage for your commissioned cover.

If any important fit or order condition remains unknown, keep the existing cover or postpone optional artwork. You can complete your first bag checklist without commissioning a matching set of accessories.

Sources and scope

Relevant written Vanquish, Dormie FAQ and Dormie custom-program sections linked above were read on 17 October 2026. The two Dormie pages are the same supplier’s material, not independent professional review. Provider statements establish the bounded services and terms described; they do not substantiate TeeClear performance, durability or workmanship findings. No order or sample was obtained.

The later summary pass also read Vanquish’s linked general return policy. Its conditional scope is retained above; no custom cancellation right or warranty outcome is inferred.
