When your first golf clubs arrive, compare the actual delivery with your written order before hitting balls or changing anything. Check the exact model, handedness, selected options, individual clubs and promised accessories. Photograph any discrepancy and ask the seller how to proceed while keeping the packaging and documents.
This US buyer’s checklist is an editorial way to organize a delivery inspection. It is not a test of fit, club performance, authenticity or structural safety. If something appears damaged or loose, stop and ask the seller or a qualified repairer rather than testing it with a swing.
Have the order record beside the box
Save the listing you bought, order confirmation, selected SKU/options, receipt and any seller messages. Check the packing slip and tracking information for a split shipment before treating an absent item as lost. An advertised package family is less specific than your selected order.
Record the arrival date and photograph the package and any visible damage before discarding packing. Keep an overall view and a clear close-up of the issue; avoid changing the item while trying to demonstrate it. These are suggested evidence checks, not a statement that every seller requires a particular photograph or an unboxing video.
Match identity and options before counting pieces
| Check | Compare with the actual order |
|---|---|
| Model and version | Full product name and identifying labels; do not substitute a similar-looking older package |
| Handedness | Club orientation and RH/LH markings where supplied; ask if an item is unclear |
| Length option | Selected standard, shorter or longer version and SKU; a box label alone does not measure every club |
| Shafts and grips | Selected shaft/flex and grip options, readable labels and seller-confirmed substitutions |
| Bag | The ordered type and the included straps or other listed components |
If a number or label does not match, record it exactly and ask the seller. Do not infer club length, flex or suitability from the color scheme. Use the length, loft and flex guide to describe the question; a physical measurement may need the shop’s help.
Our US package configuration records can help identify the documented model and its known limitations. They are dated references, not proof that the contents of your carton are correct.
Count clubs and accessories separately
Lay out the items and compare them one by one with the purchased inventory. Write each club’s marking rather than recording only “ten clubs.” Check woods, hybrids, irons, wedges and putter against the exact list. Count bags, headcovers, straps, rain hoods and any promised tools separately; do not assume every package includes them.
| Expected from your order | Received item or marking | Match, missing or unclear |
|---|---|---|
| ___ | ___ | ___ |
| ___ | ___ | ___ |
| ___ | ___ | ___ |
This blank worksheet uses no assumed package inventory. What a beginner set includes explains why a piece count and a club count can differ. A promotional photograph is not a substitute for the written inclusion list.
Inspect visible condition without trying to repair it
Look over the heads, shafts, grips and bag for visible damage, unexpected wear or components that appear loose. Describe the location and appearance, without deciding from a photograph whether it is cosmetic or structural. If the issue is unclear, request an assessment before use.
Keep an uncertain item in its received condition while asking for instructions. Do not shorten a shaft, regrip, stamp lettering or use cleaning chemicals to correct a delivery concern. For an intentionally used purchase, compare condition with that seller’s listing and grading terms using the used-club checks; an expected wear description is a different question from whether a new order arrived correctly.
Read the policy for this product category
Written US-applicable terms checked 18 October 2026 illustrate why a headline trial or return promise is insufficient:
- Vice’s USA/Canada policy permits playing under its individual-club trial provision but requires complete sets to remain unused for its complete-set return provision. It separately describes defect and incorrect-delivery enquiries. Do not apply the individual-club trial to a boxed set.
- Golf USA’s help center distinguishes unused, noncustom returns from final-sale custom orders and separately addresses build/manufacturing issues and incorrect or damaged arrivals. That does not establish a particular refund outcome for your item.
These are two merchants’ terms, not a national return rule. Confirm the seller, product category, reporting deadline, condition requirements and authorized return process for your order. Ordinary change-of-mind returns, damage claims and warranty assessment can have different procedures. No common cancellation deadline is assumed here.
Send one clear discrepancy note
“Order [number] arrived on [date]. I ordered [exact model, SKU and options]. I received [specific label, item, quantity or visible condition]. The expected item is [detail from order]. I have attached the relevant order record and photographs. Please confirm what else you need, whether I should leave it unused, and the next steps and deadline. If it needs to be returned, please confirm authorization and shipping instructions.”
This is an editorial message template, not a submitted claim. Keep the seller’s reply with your documents and ask who arranges any return. Do not send the item to an address taken from another merchant’s policy.
Move on after resolving the delivery question
Once the inventory and any concerns are resolved, follow the beginner equipment-care guide and prepare your first round. If you want names or colors added, complete the delivery check before committing to optional personalization. Appearance changes can complicate identifying the condition in which an item arrived.
Sources and scope
Relevant written Vice USA/Canada and Golf USA return/product-issue sections were read and compared on 18 October 2026, linked above. No purchase, accepted claim, physical inspection or performance test was performed. Your selected seller and written order determine the questions still to resolve; this guide does not certify a remedy or an individual club.
